Punta Cana, DR.- Prominent Dominican journalist Yenny Polanco Lovera has been elected President of the Ibero-American Federation of Tourism Journalists (FIPETUR) for the 2025-2027 term. Her selection occurred during the organization’s Annual Assembly in Punta Cana, where she outlined plans to boost cooperation among regional tourism journalists and enhance international tourism promotion efforts.

The leadership vote was a central part of FIPETUR’s Annual Assembly, a productive session held at the Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino. The assembly gathered members committed to strengthening tourism journalism across the Ibero-American region through active participation and shared vision.

Outgoing President María Shaw presided over the assembly. She highlighted the strong unity among member associations and the shared view of tourism as a strategically vital global industry. Shaw cited this cohesion and the organization’s successful transition into a federation of entities as key achievements of her tenure.

Polanco Lovera’s selection was unanimous, reflecting broad support from FIPETUR representatives present. Known for her extensive media career and dedication to tourism and communication, her leadership comes at a crucial time as efforts are underway globally to strengthen the presence and influence of Ibero-American tourism journalism on the international stage.

The assembly also ratified the new Board of Directors for 2025-2027. Alongside President Polanco Lovera, the board includes María Shaw Arocena (Past President & President of the International Council), Luiz Pires of Brazil (First Vice President), Karmen Garrido of Spain (Vice President of International Relations), Fernando Milo of Argentina (General Secretary), Luis José Chávez of the Dominican Republic (Treasurer), Armando de la Garza of Mexico (Director of Communication), and Miryan Moreno of Paraguay (Director of Training).

In her address, Polanco Lovera articulated her vision for promoting excellence in tourism journalism, fortifying cross-border collaboration networks, and elevating the cultural and tourism heritage of Ibero-America. “This leadership transition marks a significant moment for our organization, solidifying our commitment to disseminating quality tourism information and fostering cooperation among member countries,” stated Polanco Lovera, who also serves as President of the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur).
