Paris.- The Dominican Republic has concluded its participation in the 2024 IFTM Top Resa tourism fair, where it showcased its appeal as a leading destination for French travelers. In a significant announcement, the Dominican Republic will be the Guest of Honor at the 2025 edition of the prestigious fair.

A delegation of 27 Dominican companies from the tourism sector attended the event, providing a platform to promote the country’s diverse offerings. The designation of the Dominican Republic as the Guest of Honor for Top Resa 2025 reaffirms the nation’s dedication to the French tourism market.

David Collado, the Dominican Minister of Tourism, highlighted the importance of this role: “Participating in Top Resa 2024 and being named the Guest of Honor for 2025 confirms the Dominican Republic’s commitment to the French market, emphasizing our unique offerings and the renowned hospitality that defines our country.”

The IFTM Director echoed this sentiment, stating: “I am delighted that the Dominican Republic, a symbolic destination for French travelers, will be the Guest of Honor for the 2025 edition. This announcement has been a wonderful surprise, and we are excited to see this nation, deeply committed to tourism professionals and travel agents, develop partnerships that benefit everyone. The Dominican Republic holds many treasures yet to be discovered.”

The Dominican Republic expects to welcome around 150,000 French visitors by the end of 2024. Additionally, Air Caraibes has announced plans to increase the frequency of direct flights from Paris to Punta Cana, further enhancing accessibility for European travelers.

Throughout the three-day fair, the Dominican delegation engaged in numerous meetings with key tourism players, resulting in new business opportunities and agreements aimed at boosting the country’s tourism sector. A notable event was a roadshow that drew over 200 tour operators and travel agents, reinforcing relationships within the French market.

Participating Dominican companies included Banreservas, Banco Popular Dominicano, Hyatt Inclusive Collection, Grupo Puntacana, Colonial Tours, Sky High Dominicana, Aeropuerto La Romana, Meliá Hotels International and Air Century. These entities played an integral role in promoting the nation’s tourism and expanding its international presence.

With the Dominican Republic set to be the Guest of Honor for Top Resa 2025, expectations are high for continued growth and collaboration between Dominican and French tourism professionals, ensuring that the Caribbean country remains a beloved destination for French and European travelers.
