Santo Domingo.- The Tourism Ministry and the Hotels and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES) started working meetings on Tues. to develop this year’s common agenda, which ensures a continued rise in the arrival of  visitors to Dominican Republic.
Tourism minister Francisco Javier GarcÃa, ASONAHORES president Joel Santos, and vice president Andrés Marranzini, met for nearly two hours to initiate the agenda.
Analyzed during the meeting were the general guidelines leading to the strategic and programmatic plans for this year, aimed at surpassing the arrival of over 7.0 million tourists and cruise passengers who visited the Dominican Republic.
In addition to yesterday’s gathering, other periodic meetings will be held to carry out what was programmed in the common agenda developed by the public and private sectors.
GarcÃa said both sectors have a broad common agenda to develop, and stressed that Tourism and ASONAHAORES have always worked hand in hand to continue promoting tourism.

According to Central Bank figures, the tourists come mostly from the United States (39.57%), Canada (18.47%), Germany (4.93%) and France (4.41%).
