Barahona.- Rafael Santos BadÃa, general director of the National Institute for Technical Professional Training (Infotep), announced that the Guarocuya Hotel School Tourism Technological Center in Barahona will begin operations in May 2025. The center is located where the old Guarocuya Hotel once operated.
Following a tour of the site with President Luis Abinader, Santos BadÃa confirmed the president’s satisfaction with the progress of the first stage of renovations. The center, with a total investment of RD$120 million, will feature classrooms, fully equipped training rooms, and modern facilities for hands-on education. Programs will include training in tourism, modern agriculture, hydroponics, fish farming, hospitality, plumbing, and electrical work, benefiting Barahona and the Enriquillo region.
Santos BadÃa also emphasized environmental beautification efforts surrounding the facility. He plans to collaborate with Barahona’s municipal authorities to enhance the area with bathrooms, kiosks, and improved drainage systems to prevent flooding. The initiative aims to provide a welcoming environment for both trainees and the local community.
