Punta Cana – In a new update of the reservation system, it has been observed that the LATAM Group will increase its flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for the austral summer season 2024/25. The new frequencies will begin in December and will run until March 2025.

According to the Cirium platform, subject to change, by January 2025 LATAM will increase the offer (in ASK) by 53.7%, compared to the same period in 2024.

Currently, Punta Cana is connected to Lima, Peru; Miami, United States; and Santiago, Chile, throughout the year, and in the three connections they will increase to:

  • Lima: 14 to 17 weekly flights with Airbus A319 and A320; it competes with Arajet and SKY Airline.
  • Miami: 1 to 3 weekly flights with Boeing 787-8 and -9; it competes with American and Frontier.
  • Santiago: 1 to 3 weekly flights with Boeing 787-8 and -9, competing with Arajet.

According to the advantages of LATAM’s routes to Punta Cana, Lima is the group’s second most important hub in terms of frequencies, facilitating connections between the south and north of the American continent.

Therefore, tourists from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay benefit from the increase in flights to Punta Cana.

Santiago de Chile is the Group’s third most important hub. The increase in flights to Punta Cana mainly benefits travelers from Argentina, Uruguay, Australia and New Zealand, offering the latter two markets the shortest leg between the Caribbean and Oceania, compared to other airlines.

In Miami, despite the strong competition between the United States and the Dominican Republic from U.S. airlines, it benefits from being the only one that operates with wide-body aircraft, giving it greater comforts, and for travel agencies, marketing 2×1 in vacation destinations for tourists.
