Monseñor Nouel, DR.- Over 150 community members in Blanco, Monseñor Nouel, will be trained and certified as nature interpreters as part of a sustainable ecotourism initiative in Valle Nuevo National Park. Led by the Blanco Ecotourism and Sustainable Development Cluster (Cluster-Ecosos, Inc.) with support from the Ministry of Environment and its Vice Ministry of Protected Areas, the program aims to professionalize ecotourism while protecting natural resources.
Training will begin in late May or early June, focusing on ecology, trail safety, environmental interpretation, and local biodiversity. It will also include the creation of certified trails and best environmental practices. The program’s goal is to empower local residents as both tourism ambassadors and environmental stewards.
Environmental authorities and community organizations praised the initiative as a balanced model for conservation and development. With the participation of ASOGUIEMONB, local churches, schools, and social groups, the project also includes infrastructure planning and educational campaigns to establish Blanco as a model destination for responsible ecotourism.
