Playa Rincon is definitely in the running as one of the best beaches on Dominican Republic. Rincon Beach Dominican Republic is an isolated gem north of Los Galeras within the northeastern region of Samana. The beach and surrounding area commands applause for its location, scenery, beautiful sand beach, and excellent water conditions. Set at the base of Cape Cabron mountain, rising more than, 2,000 feet and hugged by crystal-clear, turquoise sea water, Rincon Beach Dominican Republic affords a three-mile stretch of uninterrupted palm groves flanking white sand, creating a stunning location ideal for a genuine off-the-beaten-path experience.
Getting there is accomplished by a half-hour ferry ride from the main beach at Las Galeras, renting a vehicle independently, grabbing a taxi, or via an excursion. Another departure point is nearby Las Terrenas, a busy town filled with amenities and also the hectic pace of city life. Note that if driving solo, you’ll need a 4WD vehicle to enjoy successful arrival along the rough, long, and ultra-bumpy roads. The road, running from Carreteras in Las Galeras to Rincon, is well-marked and anywhere from 45 minutes to roughly an hour.
Las Galeras was once a tiny fishing village evolved by way of wealthy island citizens who have made it a vacation escape. Still, it has plenty of charm and is worth a short visit, even if just to try the regional fare, particularly the famed langosta and fish dishes. There are also an abundance of vacation rentals in the immediate area. Las Terrenas is also definitely worth a look. It is clearly Mediterranean-inspired with plenty of seaside restaurants and cafes. A great array of handicrafts not found in other parts of the island are available at locally owned shops. Watersports are widely available, including kiteboarding, windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, and horseback riding and 4wheel drives are popular. Other beaches nearby include Playa Las Balleras and Playa Bonita.
Though there are no all inclusive Dominican Republic hotels directly on the beach, that is sure to change. All inclusive hotels have popped up around Rincon so it is possible to enjoy a location nearby. Once you set foot on the beach, you’ll know exactly why visitors have praised this beach above all others on the island. Rincon is serene and wonderfully void of people. It sits protected inside a small bay without a hotel or beach house in sight. There are no radios, food vendors, signs of any kind, or booths. There is a lagoon composed of freshwater nearby perfect for rinsing off the salty, sea water. Best bets are swimming, snorkeling (bring your own gear), and sunbathing along the sandy stretch or relaxing under one of the palms. There are a few food vendors close by to choose from.
Rincon Beach Dominican Republic is one of the most beautiful stretches available, but getting to it takes some patience and perseverance. The only thing deterring the masses from making the trip are the bad roads that can be difficult, but not impossible, to navigate. Boat rides from Las Galeras are available for a fee. Even still, if you have the aptitude to drive a 4WD along a bumpy, eight-mile road for 40 minutes, you can enjoy total seclusion at this wild and deserted, paradisiacal slice of the island pie.
