The Minister of the Presidency, Gustavo Montalvo, assured that the Dominican Government will accelerate the tourist development process of Bahía de las Águilas, in the Pedernales province, now that the case has been definitively decided in the Supreme Court of Justice.

Montalvo pointed out that this case shows that in the Dominican Republic one certainly lives in a genuine state of law.

“From today we can accelerate the necessary development plans with legal security. This ruling shows that the rule of law works in the Dominican Republic,” said the official at a press conference at the National Palace, accompanied by the legal consultant of the Executive Branch, Flavio Darío Espinal.

This morning, the third room of the Supreme Court of Justice issued nine judgments on cassation appeals filed against the nullity of certificates of titles in Bahía de las Águilas, ordered by the Superior Court of Lands of the National District.

“Today a cycle closes on the most important real estate case in Republican history,” stressed the President of the Third Chamber.

Recognition

Montalvo pointed out that in 1997, Dr. Piky Lora, as a State attorney, began the process to recover the lands of Bahía de las Águilas.

“That legal process, which would last for 21 years, would be continued by his daughter, also Laura Acosta, who continued to defend the interests of the State in the courts since 2013,” explained Montalvo.

“I want to express the government’s recognition of these two exceptional women, as well as the legal team that has accompanied them during this long struggle,” he insisted.
