Santo Domingo.- During the first half of 2019, a little less than 3.1 million foreigners arrived in the Dominican Republic, a 2% growth, according to statistics on tourist arrivals published by the Central Bank.
In contrast, during the previous five-year period, for the first six months of the year, the arrival of foreign tourists by air grew at a simple annual average of 7%.
Were the previous years characterized by an unusual dynamism in the tourism sector? Statistics don’t reflect that, and instead show a normal trend in the key sector of the Dominican economy.
