Uvero Alto Beach is pinpointed on the east shore of the Dominican Republic. It is part of the Punta Cana region of Bavaro, a heavily touristed area of the region. Strangely enough, Uvero Alto Punta Cana is not a well-known beach at all, to the delight of those who visit. Specifically, Uvero Alto is set in the northern part of Punta Cana, almost an hour from the international airport. The main charm of the beach is the remoteness, but as you’re absorbing that, it becomes clear that Uvero offers a bevy of benefits.
Originally Bavaro was created as a place of residence for those working in the all inclusive resorts. Once the east coast saw a major increase in hotel development, Bavaro became well-known for its many convenient services. In turn, the recognition led to more development and the rest is history. Bavaro officially begins at the small town of Otra Bana and meanders about seven miles north beyond Uvero Alto to Playa de Macao. Additional northern beaches include La Vacama and Playa Roco Ki.
The recent rise in visitors and new resorts in the process of construction are evidence that the remoteness of Uvero Alto Beach won’t be long standing. Fresh sea air brings in a heavenly breeze staving off the high heat of the summer. For local fare, heading into one of the few nearby resorts is the answer.
The resorts provide rentals for kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, sailing, and more. The coral reef that Punta Cana is famous for is there as well, directly offshore creating ideal snorkeling conditions. If you’re staying at one of the nearby hotels, you’ll likely be treated to free gear. Once on the beach, the golden-tan sand and turquoise water becomes a magnet which is a good thing since there is nary a place worth visiting outside of the resort area. If you’re hankering to get away from Uvero Alto Punta Cana for a day, inquire about tours to La Roman, Bayahibe National Park, or a jeep safari.
