Santo Domingo.- Airports Department director Marino Collante on Mon. said he expects as many as 400,000 Dominican expats will arrive in December via the different airports for the yearend holidays.

He said he’s in favor of raising the Customs tax break on gifts brought by Dominicans living abroad to US$3,000.

“Our airports are ready to receive the thousands of Dominican brothers living abroad during December to celebrate Christmas and New Year with their family and friends,” the official said.

He said in the coming days he will meet with the head of the National Police to coordinate the measures that will be taken in and around Las Americas Airport and highway to guarantee the travelers’ safety.
