Santo Domingo.- Aiming to significantly boost commercial exchange between the two nations, the Dominican-German Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism has announced the second edition of Dominican Week in Germany. The official launch and press conference took place at the Volkswagen showroom, revealing the event will run from Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6, 2025, in the cities of Munich and Hamburg respectively.

The Chamber, in collaboration with its allied institutions, aims to strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation through a series of high-value events. These activities are designed to foster business opportunities and deepen commercial relations between the Dominican Republic and Germany.

An extensive agenda has been prepared, featuring activities and visits covering crucial economic sectors. Key topics include manufacturing, free zones, infrastructure, imports and exports, dual education, health, logistics, tourism, and bilateral agreements.

In Munich, the program offers access to and guided visits of the Transport Logistics fair. Participants will also tour the Audi automotive factory and the facilities of MunichRE, one of Germany’s most prominent reinsurers.

Hamburg hosts a full day of conferences, panels, and B2B meetings organized by the Latin America Association in Germany (LAV). Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic (MIREX) will sponsor a Dominican Cultural Night. The program in Hamburg concludes with a visit to the Port of Hamburg alongside the local port authority.

Karsten Paul Windeler, the current president of the Chamber, highlighted the significance of the upcoming event. “For the second occasion, this major economic and cultural gathering seeks to continue strengthening the bond between our nations, addressing topics of interest and exploring joint opportunities,” he stated.

The press conference also saw the presence of several notable figures, including Milagros Abreu, president of Avelino Abreu and a member of the Chamber; Vice Minister Hugo Rivera of MIREX’s Economic Affairs and International Cooperation; the Honorable German Ambassador, Maike Friedrichsen; and Daniel Liranzo, director of the National Council of Free Zones.

The announcement builds on the resounding success of the first Dominican Week in Germany, held in September 2023 in Berlin. That inaugural event, celebrated within the framework of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, attracted prominent figures such as the Mayor of Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejía; INFOTEP Director General Rafael Santos Badía; BANDEX General Manager Juan Mustafá; and the ambassadors of Germany and the Dominican Republic, Maike Friedrichsen and Francisco Caraballo.
