Santo Domingo.- The voice of Dominican tourism journalism is set to elect its future leadership. The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur), through its National Electoral Commission, has officially called internal elections to select the board of directors and other governing bodies for the 2025-2027 term.
The balloting will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The vote is planned to occur simultaneously in Santo Domingo, various Adompretur chapters across the country, and in the United States, reflecting the association’s national and international reach.
This official call adheres strictly to Adompretur’s Electoral Regulations and Statutes, which establish the procedures ensuring democratic participation for all eligible professional journalist members. The Electoral Commission specifically urged qualified members to actively engage in the process, encouraging them to form their slates and submit their candidacies.
Overseeing this crucial electoral cycle is the National Electoral Commission. The body is chaired by renowned journalist Manuel Quiterio Cedeño. He is accompanied by Miguelina Santos serving as secretary, Barnadiz González as a member, and Aurelio HenrÃquez and Margarita Brito as vocales.
The commission has set a clear deadline for those aspiring to leadership roles, stating that the reception of candidacies will close on Friday, July 3, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Submissions will be accepted at Adompretur’s main headquarters, located in the Dominican College of Journalists building in Santo Domingo, as well as at the respective offices of national and international chapters.
To guarantee transparency and guide participants, the National Electoral Commission announced it will circulate the Statutes, Electoral Regulations, and other supplementary directives. Members requiring specific clarifications may direct their inquiries via email to Adompretur’s institutional address, using “Consulta a la Comisión Electoral 2025” in the subject line.
This electoral process represents a crucial moment for the democratic strengthening of Adompretur, an entity uniting journalists specializing in the tourism sector – a cornerstone of the Dominican economy.
Adompretur underscores the vital importance of active member participation in this cycle. High engagement is seen as key to ensuring the new authorities genuinely reflect the commitment, aspirations, and diverse perspectives of the guild. The upcoming 2025-2027 term is poised to face significant challenges, including the continued promotion of sustainable tourism practices and the ongoing effort to consolidate the role of the tourism press as a dynamic driver of national development.
