Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) announced the inaugural arrival of the Norwegian Aqua cruise ship, operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, at the Taino Bay port in Puerto Plata on Thursday, May 1. This marks a key milestone in the country’s cruise tourism calendar, with several other ships scheduled to dock throughout May.
Another significant arrival is the MSC World America, set to visit Taino Bay on Monday, May 12, marking its second visit. Jean Luis RodrÃguez, Executive Director of APORDOM, emphasized the importance of consistently featuring Dominican ports in cruise itineraries to boost tourism and economic activity, particularly in coastal regions.
According to APORDOM’s May cruise report, a total of 36 ships are expected to arrive: 20 at Amber Cove, 14 at Taino Bay, and one each at Cabo Rojo and Samaná. The Port Authority noted that dates may shift due to weather or changes in cruise routes.
