Puerto Plata — With 38 cruise ship arrivals confirmed for May 2025; the Amber Cove and Taino Bay terminals continue establishing Puerto Plata as the leading cruise destination in the Caribbean. The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) officially announced this under the directive of Minister David Collado.
The cruise schedule is part of a transparent and open information policy aimed at highlighting the sector’s steady growth while supporting the planning efforts of all stakeholders in the northern tourism industry.
Puerto Plata will welcome high-profile cruise lines such as Carnival, Norwegian, MSC, Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, and Virgin Voyages throughout May. Notable vessels include the MSC World America, Carnival Mardi Gras, Norwegian Aqua, and Oasis of the Seas, operating on schedules from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM, depending on the day and cruise line.
With 38 scheduled arrivals, Mitur has also launched an ambitious promotional strategy titled “Exploring Puerto Plata.” This initiative aims to enhance the visitor experience by emphasizing the destination’s cultural identity, historical heritage, and authenticity.
The project aligns with Minister David Collado’s vision to further position Puerto Plata as a leading international cruise tourism hub.
Puerto Plata continues to solidify its role as the gateway to cruise tourism in the Dominican Republic. It offers a blend of organization, hospitality, and culture under a clear vision of sustainable and inclusive development.
